For the small square format paintings, the suggestion is to create two 12” x 12“ paintings of ruby-throated hummingbirds. One hummingbird per panel, positioned off centered. Hummingbirds will look towards each other. Background to have subtle abstract mark making, similar to example below but hues will tie into the artist’s sepia series in order to compliment the tree commission painting.
For the vertical tree painting, the suggestion is to do a painting that’s 30” W x 60” H. Attached below is one example of a possible tree grouping. I took this photo of two tall pines on West Chop this last fall. Something like this would work well in this vertical format. The trees will be on a sepia background. Tree trunks will have a “sketch-like” quality to them where they subtly fade out at the bottom, similar to the painting below, “Shaped By Nature.”
